Our homeschool co-op is first and foremost a community rooted in nature. Each gathering blends shared experiences with age-appropriate breakouts, giving children a balance of connection, learning, and independence. We meet outdoors as much as possible, following the rhythm of the seasons.
Here’s what a typical session looks like:
Community Circle
We begin as a whole group, reconnecting after the week with a common theme and daily question. This time helps nurture relationships and sets the tone for the day.Breakout Sessions & Journals
Children split into age-based groups (5–6/7 years, 7/8-9 years, 10–12 years)*. At least once per term, we hold a Book Club with two themed book options, allowing families to choose the right fit for their child’s reading level. Younger students practice skills like distinguishing fact from opinion, while older students discuss themes and learn to debate ideas respectfully. Each breakout ends with a thoughtful journal prompt tied to the day’s theme.
On non-book club days, breakout sessions will explore a rotating mix of themes: seasonal and nature topics like the equinox or moon phases, social-emotional learning, and close readings of nature-inspired literature such as poems and short texts.
Snack
A simple pause to rest, refuel, and connect with friends.Forest & Nature Activity
As a whole community, we dive into a hands-on activity rooted in the day’s theme. Children may work alone, in pairs, or in groups — with older kids naturally stepping into leadership roles if they choose.Community Science, Art, & Life Skills
Each week, we explore a science experiment, art project, and/or a practical skill (such as hand sewing, etc.) that ties into our current unit. Activities are designed to be open-ended — instead of cookie-cutter crafts, children are encouraged to make their own unique spin on the project. Lessons scale up or down naturally to match different ages and abilities.Closing Circle
We end together as a community, reflecting on the day, tidying our space, and previewing the week ahead.*These age groups are flexible. Parents can help guide their children to the group that feels like the best fit. That’s the beauty of homeschooling in action!

Parent MUST stay for this session
This program is designed just for our littles — a gentle introduction to community, nature, and play. Together, you and your child will explore sensory stations, enjoy stories, and connect with other families in a trusting, supportive environment.
Here’s what a typical session looks like:
Open Play
We begin with open play, outdoors whenever possible — rain, shine, or even just for 20 minutes. Fresh air, sunshine, dirt, and mud are essential for healthy development at every age. A rotating “main station” will be set up each day, along with loose parts that spark imagination and creativity.Community Circle
A lead volunteer will guide our circle time. We’ll start with a cheerful “hello chant” and share a story that connects to the week’s theme. Themes match those of the older co-op group, giving siblings a shared experience to talk about together.Snack
Exploration Stations
After circle time & snack, families can explore themed stations designed for parent–child interaction. Stations will fit the week’s theme, and focus on fine and gross motor development. These parent-child led activities will offer a balance of hands-on learning and movement along with cooperation. Our Sprouts meet at the set start and end times, but the door is always open — arrive and leave when it works best for you and your little one.
Whether or not you plan to homeschool in the future, this is a wonderful opportunity for young children to grow, play, and begin building community.
-
While we don’t currently offer a structured co-op program for older students, we do provide space for teens to work independently while their younger siblings are in session. This study space is available strictly for families with parents who remain on site during co-op. If you’d like more details about the setup or expectations, please reach out to Ali for more information.
